Job Title: Sr. Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Hampton, VA
Salary: $95-105K
SUMMARY:
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will provide efficient solutions to the development of and/or modification to equipment, tooling and processes relating to the manufacturing of high pressure aluminum cylinders. Implementation of newer and better automation is a goal with this position. He or She will be responsible for the designing and implementation of mechanical and electromechanical systems and components to improve safety, reliability, and product throughput. It will be His or Her duty to oversee the build, installation, and implementation of new or modified equipment and processes to accomplish this goal.
Essential Functions:
- Be proficient in the current CAD system and computer software.
- Design, or assist in design, development and/or fabrication of product, tool, and equipment, handling equipment and processes and procedures.
- Create and maintain drawings, processes and routers.
- Oversee the engineering aspects of new product, tool, and equipment qualification and start-up in production.
- Design high pressure gas cylinders that comply with DOT-3AL, TC-3ALM, ISO-7866, or any governing agencies' requirements.
- Design all tooling necessary to manufacture and test high pressure gas cylinders.
- Diagnose product, tool, and equipment and process problems and implement solutions.
- Monitor production of new and existing product and equipment
- Modify existing equipment, tooling or processes to increase safety and equipment performance.
Education/Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree with focus on mechanical, industrial or manufacturing engineering OR some college in the same disciplines and 5 years direct manufacturing engineer work experience.
- College credits in metallurgical courses preferred.
- Proficient in CAD with Inventor software
- PLC programming familiarity
- Experience with PFMEA
- Minimum 5 years of directly related engineering experience
- Must be strong in machine design and automation
- Compressed gas cylinder experience extremely desirable, but not required
- Knowledgeable and able to participate in continuous process improvement activities.
