As a member of the United Association of Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, the piping detailer's role is the piping constructability and optimization mastermind. By first discovering and understanding our mechanical customer's means and methods, the piping detailer uses the power of Building Information Management (BIM) & Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) methods to pre-construct the HVAC and Process piping systems virtually, with the goal of finding and diagnosing pipe routing problems and optimize the piping system for less material waste and installation labor savings.
The Piping detailer lives "in the trenches" and thrives on overcoming technical obstacles within their path and enjoys coordinating with other trades to collaborate and work together to deliver highly coordinated and efficient design and construction projects. The Piping detailer is a skilled tradesperson and coordinates between the fabricators and the installers to ensure success, quality and accuracy of projects from start to finish by working with project documents, plans and specifications, taking field measurements and creating 3D coordination digital drawings with CAD & BIM software. The Piping detailer is driven, tenacious, technically proficient in CAD and BIM software tools, and motivated to master any additional tools to develop and communicate innovative design and construction solutions.
