Position Overview
The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for employees. This role involves conducting hazard analyses, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and promoting safety training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hazard analyses to identify potential risks in the workplace.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in alignment with industry regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations and standards including OSHA guidelines.
  • Conduct safety training programs for employees and management.
  • Perform compliance audits and inspections to assess safety practices and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage and respond to incidents, ensuring proper documentation and reporting of incidents and near-misses.
  • Oversee emergency response procedures and drills to ensure preparedness in case of an incident.
  • Collaborate with management to develop safety management systems and strategies to enhance workplace safety.
  • Advise on Workers Compensation claims and assist with return-to-work programs.
  • Stay updated on environmental health and safety (EHS) trends and regulations to ensure continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Safety Specialist or in a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, HSE).
  • Experience conducting safety training and developing safety programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with employees at all levels.
  • Proficient in incident reporting and risk analysis techniques.
  • Certification in Safety Management (e.g., CSP, CIH) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve safety goals.
