Prepare construction estimates from design documents (conceptual design, preliminary design, and detailed design).
Review all project plans, specifications, and documents.
Determine basic material requirements from electrical technical specifications.
Collaborate with design teams to understand intent and obtain any additional information required to develop the estimate for its intended purpose.
Prepare value engineering analysis in anticipation of the customers best interest.
Maintain and update database information related to construction costs for labor, equipment and materials for electrical systems.
Maintain estimating software (Accubid) material and labor.
Attend pre-bid or team scope review meetings and understand the complete scope of work required, with sometimes-limited information.
Locate, notify and send bid information to subcontractors and vendors for quotations on outsourced work.
Evaluate bids of subcontractors and vendors for completeness of scope of work, schedule, compliance with specifications, or other bid requirements.
Mentors other Estimators and assists them in the formulation and development of estimates, follow up activities in regards to estimating activities, and bid strategies.
Reviews and finalizes bids to make sure bid is accurate and complete. Follows up on completed bids to ensure receipt and outcome.
At least five (5) years of experience in electrical cost estimating.
Expert with estimating software (Accubid & LiveCount Takeoff).
Experience estimating Multifamily projects is a plus.
Knowledge of estimating practices and procedures including design drawing reading and analysis, software input and data manipulation, takeoff techniques, and electrical systems and their components.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Thorough knowledge of estimating both plan-spec and Design-Build projects.
Ability to work independently without supervision as well as part of a team.
Experience in estimating large-scale Multifamily, commercial, and/or other complex projects.
Experience should include demonstrated ability to estimate projects valued at $5M+.
