Position Overview
The Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing heavy civil construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role requires effective leadership and communication skills to coordinate with various stakeholders and ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality assurance processes. This position is based in and around Boston, MA.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations on heavy civil construction sites including bridges and highways.
• Manage project budgets and ensure financial controls are in place.
• Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion.
• Identify potential risks and implement risk management strategies.
• Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure favorable terms.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders including clients, engineers, and construction teams.
• Allocate resources efficiently to optimize project performance.
• Ensure quality assurance standards are met throughout the construction process.
• Monitor compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety on site.
• Lead and mentor construction teams to enhance productivity and morale.
• Implement construction methods and engineering principles effectively.
• Manage change orders and ensure proper documentation and communication.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent in heavy civil projects.
• Strong understanding of heavy civil construction techniques and methods.
• Experience in budget management and financial oversight.
• Proficient in scheduling and project management tools.
• Knowledge of risk management principles and practices.
• Ability to negotiate contracts effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams.
• Thorough understanding of quality assurance and safety compliance standards.
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
